USG Anomaly Scan

About The Test

In the second trimester of a woman's pregnancy, doctors recommend An ultrasound test. There are two ultrasound scans, and Anomaly, and an Echo scan.

The Anomaly scan is a thorough ultrasound scan that focuses on the body of the baby and examines the location of the placenta,

the umbilical cord amniotic fluid surrounding the baby, and the mother's uterus and the cervix. It can also be used to look for any anomalies in the growth or development of the baby.

The echo scan is geared explicitly for the function and structure of the heart of an unborn infant. The test uses that echo of the systems in the child's heart.

An Echo scan is performed only in the event of any abnormalities during the anomaly test or in the event of a family history of heart diseases within the family. These tests are conducted in the second trimester, generally around 18-20 weeks of pregnancy.
